Last year we posted the traditional way of making Som Tom (Green Papaya Salad). But if you are Vegan or Vegetarian you also can enjoy the taste of this mixture of freshness and spiciness. All you need are 10 ingredients.
If you don´t have or if you don´t want to buy a Green Papaya you also can use Carrots or Cucumber instead of Papaya.
Ingredients:
- 1 green papaya (peeled and sliced in thin stripes)
- 2-4 red chilies (chopped)
- 3 garlic gloves
- 2 long beans or 10 green beans (cut in 3 cm pieces)
- 2 tbs soy sauce
- 2 tbs lemon juice
- 1 tbs palm sugar
- 2 tbs tamarind paste
- 2 tomatoes (sliced)
- 2 tbs roasted peanuts
To peel the Papaya you can use a special tool: Buy @ Amazon.com
Method:
- Put chilies and garlic in a mortar and pestle
- Add the papaya stripes and beans and pestle
- Add soy sauce, lemon juice and palm sugar and pestle
- Add tamarind paste, tomatoes and peanuts and pestle again
- Serve on a plate with Sticky Rice
